After upgrading to WordPress 2.9.1, I encountered a problem when using the media file uploader. Any attempts to upload an image would return an HTTP error:

There are many solutions out there, but unfortunately none of the ones listed worked for me. I did find a very simple fix however.
HTTP error fix
The answer was right in front of me! Specifically, in the uploader popup window:
You are using the Flash uploader. Problems? Try the Browser uploader instead.
The Browser Uploader worked perfectly fine for me.
